How does light therapy work? The bacteria responsible for acne inflammation create molecules is called porphyrins. When those porphyrins are exposed to certain wavelengths of light, they produce free radicals that kill the bacteria. Once acne-causing bacteria is eliminated, the inflammation it caused is reduced and acne clears up.

Acne light therapy is used to treat active lesions and helps prevent dormant glands from becoming active lesions.

Acne light treatment is simple, involving a series of pain-free exposures to high-intensity light.
